Cultivating Presence Through Every Pour
The Living Leaf is my journey through the history, culture, and beauty of Japanese tea.
In this experience, I guide guests through the story of Japanese teas, exploring how tea became deeply woven into Japanese life, spirituality, hospitality, aesthetics, and cultural identity. We discuss the traditions that shaped Japan’s relationship with tea, including the importance of Chanoyu, also known as Chado, “The Way of Tea.”
While this experience does not perform the formal Japanese tea ceremony itself, I introduce guests to its meaning, history, and influence so they can better understand why it remains such an important part of Japanese culture.
Guests enjoy a guided tasting of three distinct Japanese teas along with one matcha, each selected to showcase the refinement, depth, and uniqueness of Japanese tea traditions. Through each tasting, we explore flavor, aroma, texture, color, preparation, and the cultural story behind the cup.
The Living Leaf is elegant, contemplative, and educational. It is ideal for cultural programs, wellness retreats, libraries, museums, private groups, corporate experiences, and tea lovers who want to deepen their understanding of Japanese tea beyond the surface.
This experience is my invitation to honor the living leaf itself — from garden to cup, from history to ritual, from quiet beauty to shared understanding.
